Be sure to see this remarkable selection of objects that have been added to the Ukrainian Museum of Canada’s collection over the last several years.

The UMC’s permanent collection began in 1936, with the founding of the Museum by the Ukrainian Women’s Association. Since that time, the collection has grown to approximately 30,000 artefacts and artworks, acquired over the decades through donations from members of the Ukrainian Canadian community, along with other private collectors and bequests, and directed purchases from living artists.

These additions to the UMC’s collection are illustrative of the diversity of items that we have been able to acquire, and for which we are beholden to many donors and artists. Building a valuable collection is central to our core mission, allowing us to cultivate rich and diverse knowledge and appreciation of the experiences, cultures, and histories of Ukrainians in Canada, Ukraine, and the greater diaspora.
