This exhibition marks the Ukrainian Museum of Canada’s second collaboration with Pictoric Illustrators Club, a Kyiv-based collective renowned for its vibrant and powerful protest art.
Founded in 2014 by Olena Staranchuk, Oleh Gryshchenko, and Anna Sarvira, Pictoric unites artists, graphic designers, and illustrators in a shared mission: to raise awareness about critical issues and promote Ukrainian culture on a global scale.
The works featured here were created in response to Russia’s ongoing assault on Ukraine. These posters capture the resilience, anguish, and defiance of a nation under siege, highlighting the profound role of art in documenting history, mobilizing action, and sustaining hope.
Proceeds from the silent auction of these posters, held during the museum’s 2024 Christmas Yarmarok, will directly support Pictoric’s continued efforts. By acquiring a poster, visitors not only contribute to the survival of Ukrainian culture but also stand in solidarity with the artists whose work inspires resistance and remembrance.
Art is a powerful weapon in the fight for freedom. As you explore these striking images, consider the stories they tell and the resilience they represent. Together, we honour the artists and the courage of the Ukrainian people.
