Research Opportunities
The Ukrainian Museum of Canada offers a rich environment for original research in Ukrainian and Ukrainian Canadian history, art, and culture.
We welcome inquiries from scholars, curators, artists, students, and other researchers whose work engages with our collections, library, and archives. Our holdings provide valuable primary and secondary sources for research in migration, settlement, material culture, folk art, literature, and community history.

Scope
Areas of research that align with our holdings include, but are not limited to:
- Gender, religion, and community among first- and second-wave Ukrainian settlers
- The legacy of World War I internment camps in Canada
- The role of Ukrainian Canadians in Canada’s colonization policies and settler history
- The history and development of the Ukrainian Orthodox and Ukrainian Catholic Churches in Canada
- Early Ukrainian-language publishing in Canada
- Textile-based research, particularly focused on weaving and embroidery
- Heritage and museum studies, including how museums engage communities, interpret histories, and foster belonging
What We Offer
Whenever possible, we assist with funding applications, provide access to our facilities, interpret and translate materials, and help connect visiting researchers with local accommodations and networks.
We are committed to supporting meaningful research that broadens the collective understanding of Ukrainian and Ukrainian Canadian experiences and that contributes to wider conversations in history and cultural studies.
