Public Discussion with Author Myrna Kostash at the Ukrainian Museum of Canada

Saskatoon, SK — The Ukrainian Museum of Canada invites the public to a special evening of conversation and reflection, “Prodigal Daughter: A Journey to Byzantium with Myrna Kostash,” taking place March 24, 2026, at 7:00 PM in Saskatoon.

This in-person event will bring together acclaimed Canadian writer Myrna Kostash and readers for a thoughtful discussion of her book Prodigal Daughter: A Journey to Byzantium. The evening offers an opportunity to reflect on the book’s themes and continuing relevance, and to hear how it has resonated with members of the museum’s book club.

Blending memoir, travel writing, and cultural history, Prodigal Daughter: A Journey to Byzantium traces Kostash’s exploration of Eastern Christian traditions and Byzantine heritage, while reflecting on questions of faith, identity, and cultural belonging.

The discussion will feature an open conversation with the author and readers, followed by an opportunity for attendees to engage directly with Kostash in a shared dialogue about literature, history, and personal discovery.

Myrna Kostash is one of Canada’s most respected writers of literary nonfiction and the author of numerous influential works exploring Ukrainian Canadian history, culture, and identity. Based in Edmonton, she is the author of the multicultural classic All of Baba’s Children (1978), which has never gone out of print, along with many other acclaimed books blending memoir, travel writing, and social history. Kostash will be travelling from Edmonton to join us for this special reading.
