Dianne J. Ortynsky Memorial Scholarship Awarded

The Ukrainian Museum of Canada is pleased to announce that the 2025 recipient of the Dianne J. Ortynsky Memorial Scholarship is Dionne L. Jennings of Winnipeg, Manitoba.

Dionne is a first-year Creative Communications student at RRC Polytech and an active contributor to Ukrainian cultural life in Manitoba and beyond. A mature student with extensive experience in communications, media, and community organizing, Dionne is pursuing her studies to strengthen her skills in storytelling, journalism, and public engagement—particularly in service of Ukrainian Canadian history, folk traditions, and oral history. Her long-standing volunteer work with the Ukrainian Museum of Canada (Manitoba Branch), Oseredok, Steppe Kolektyv, and community media, as well as her leadership in workshops, lectures, and fundraising initiatives, reflects a deep commitment to cultural preservation and community care.

The selection committee was especially impressed by Dionne’s integration of creative practice, education, and service, and by her dedication to sharing Ukrainian Canadian stories with integrity, generosity, and care—values that resonate strongly with the spirit of the Dianne J. Ortynsky Memorial Scholarship.
