The Ukrainian Museum of Canada stands in solidarity with Ukraine in defense of their sovereignty and independence. There is never a place for aggression or violence against any sovereign country. The Ukrainian Museum of Canada remains committed to preserving and educating the public on Ukrainian culture and identity and it’s importance to Canada and the world.
Threaded in History
The UMC was born from a dream to establish a place, by and through which Ukrainian heritage and Ukrainian culture could thrive. It would be a place where visitors would learn about Ukrainians and Ukrainian Canadians, and more importantly, learn and understand Ukrainian customs and traditions and their impact on the global community.
Taking into account the strong cultural prejudice against Ukrainian Canadians in the 1930’s, that dream was quite bold.
Stopping by the Museum?
This year, as with everything else, the Museum may be a bit different, but just like pioneers who adapted to a changing world and it’s events, we will adapt and change too. To accommodate the changing times, and reduced staff, we are changing our hours of operation!
We will be open to the public on Wednesdays – Fridays from 10 am to 4:30 pm.
We’re Bringing Spring Back!
The Museum is home to a significant collection of Ukrainian folk arts, traditional dress, woven and embroidered articles, pysanky, wood carvings, photographs, and icons.
Our gift shop is a popular area for our guests to browse with its large variety of authentic Ukrainian clothing, giftware, and books.
Throughout the year we offer a variety of events at the museum. Workshops, open houses, exhibition openings, readings, artist talks, we always have something to look forward to on the horizon.
